In recent years, the urbanization progress has become a topic of great debate. The growing number of old cities being reconstructed provides many benefits to the country, but also brings certain drawbacks. As a result, individuals enjoy a better life and are more likely to feel appreciated. On account of this, they have the willingness to pay back. Beyond any doubt, the process of rebuilding and redesigning ancient cities is necessary and has a practical contribution to the country’s development.
On the other hand, it cannot be denied that the process of reconstructing old buildings has many negative impacts on the environment. As a matter of fact, this process demands a massive amount of resources, including construction materials as well as energy and people. Hence, this is likely to cause overexploitation, such as deforestation or mineral exploitation. Clearly, biodiversity loss is inevitable. Needless to say, the environment is at the risk of serious contamination. More importantly, more modern infrastructure means that more and more carbon footprint is released into the air. Obviously, this leads to climate change, including global warming. Therefore, the ecosystem is also at risk of being destroyed. Without doubt, the process of rebuilding old cities will severely damage the environment.
