Nowdays, people have ability to choose whether what are they going to consume. It could be products from farms that are in another countries or from a local production. In this essay, I will discuss what advantages and disadvantages of regional farming there are for environment and economy.
First of all, talking about economic benefits, local farming does not let income to go outside of the country’s money circulation, because citizens participate in this process by receiving salaries, doing their jobs and transportation within the country. and so, due to the fact that the turnover takes place inside the country, taxes for goods are not so high and there is more work for territorial businesses.
As for disadvantages, people are getting too biased about production and they are not so aware of possible variations of foreign goods, what makes them cut off from the world. Moreover, after developing only regional flowing of commodities, the economic relations with other countries could be damaged. This would happen because of lack of transportation infrastructure and influence on the global market.
Furthermore, in-house production is less expensive than the foreign one, which leads to the higher fabrication and that means more fields are deplited for this process. It affects the environment and damages natural resources.
In conclusion, regional farming boosts the economy by keeping money local and supporting jobs. However, it can limit access to international products, weaken trade relations, and strain natural resources. A balanced approach to merchandising is essential to enjoy the economic benefits while minimizing environmental and global drawbacks.
