Band 7+: Today parents spend little time with their children. why this is the case? Who are more affected: parents or children?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many parents spend less time with their children than parents did in the past. This is mainly due to increasing work commitments and financial pressures, and it can have several negative effects on children’s development.

Parents play a cricial role in shaping children’s personalities, behaviour and future success. From early childhood, parents influence the emotional, intelectual, and social development of their children. But, in recent decades parenting style and rules have undergone significant changes due to modern lifestyles. While Some people believe that technological advancements have reduced the quality of family life and negatively affected children’s upbringing. In addition, one major issue is the increasing pressure of work and financial responsibilities. In many households, both parents work full-time jobs to maintain a reasonable standard of living. These dual-income families may enjoy greater financial stability. However, such parents often do not have enough time to spend with their children.

One major effect of reduced parental involvement is that children may suffer from emotional and behavioural problems. Parents are usually the first teachers in a child’s life, and they teach important principles such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and kindness. Children need to learn these values and behaviours. In addition, parents contribute to children’s upbringing by sharing cultural knowledge and life experiences. As a result of limited parental supervision, children may become overly dependent on mobile devices and social media, which can reduce their participation in physical activities and negatively affect their academic performance. Another consequence is that children may experience mental health issues such as stress and anxiety due to a lack of parental support. Both mothers and fathers should communicate openly with their children. This is important because children may face various stresses and challenges in their daily lives.

In conclusion, families play a fundamental role in shaping children’s emotional, intellectual, and social development. Although modern lifestyles, economic pressures, and technological changes have created new challenges for parents and children, strong family relationships remain essential for building a healthy society.
