Band 5: Today, people in many countries have to spend more and more time far away from their families. Why is this happening and what effects does it have on the people themselves and on their families? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Indeed, a significant number of people nowadays are living and working far from their homes. This is because, they want to earn enough money to help their families. I will discuss its other effects on people and their families in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, that people spend more time away from their families may result from some reasons. Firstly, students in rural areas move to cities to study at universities, and then they choose to stay there to work after graduating because there are many facilities and opportunities to make career and live better for people.

This trend could positively and negatively affect people and their families. Workers moving to big cities will have a wide variety of jobs and, therefore, can earn much more money to support their families and, consequently, their families can live comfortably without lack of money. However, as a result of people’s working far from home they can’t fit their children in. Therefore, number of juvenile crimes are increasing day to day.

In conclusion, people spend more time far from their families due to their work and study. This reality could be both beneficial and detrimental to themselves and their families at the same time. On the one hand, men try to earn money to support their families, but on the other hand offences are growing among young people.
