Today, employers particularly emphasize the value of social skills among employees which are placed on equal position with good qualifications to gain the successful job. While acknowledging the reason for this thinking, I would agree that social skills are important as good qualifications for job success.
On the one hand, it is understandable why some people believe that academic qualifications are one of the most important factors that employers require when seeking employees. The key rationale is that qualifications show professional level and academic ability in each candidate, which record training process helping employers assess candidate’s abilities. For example, fresh graduate students having good academic qualifications combined with types of language degrees are prerequisites for employment in job requirements. However, for jobs requiring teamwork or communication, having good qualifications alone are not enough to meet employers’ demands.
On the other hand, I am convinced that emphasis on social skills plays a crucial role in providing potential employees for a supervisor’s company. The main reason is that social skills call for communication skill, delivering lectures, teamwork ability, and interaction with customers which create long-term relationship as well as building trust between customers and companies. For instance, a salesperson can present ideas clearly and build public credibility. This increase purchasing and profits, regardless of qualifications. Additionally, the way employees handle surrounding situations is the factor that supervisors are particularly interested in. At work, there are unexpected cases occurring that is avoidable. Social skills providing versatile and creativity in working style as well as dealing with problems without stress or influence others. This flexibility helps people adapt to different environments and increases chances to expand employment opportunities.
In conclusion, there are justifications to support the importance of qualifications, I would contend that social skills play an equally crucial role in enhancing career prospects.
