Band 6+: Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In our contemporary world, Advertisement plays crucial role in a sale of products, and people buy them because of advertising instead of real needs of them in society. In my following essay, I will firmly agree with that idea by giving reasonable and clear reasons with explanations.

On the one hand, individuals buy some products which do not need them, because of several marketing tricks. Numerous multinational companies spend billions on advertising. Additionally, they concentrate on every single details which they show in their ads. Thus, they hire professional marketing managers and ad makers. They use a number of tricks in their ads to inspire the audience like choosing suitable colours and quotes. As a result, they make good advertising video, then it persuades people who watch, to buy their goods. For instance, two months ago I read an article about marketing tricks. I realized why I bought some products which I do not need after that. In that article, writer say that, companies try to manage control the audience needs by making good ads with the help of marketing.

Moreover, people purchase some products according to others’ advice. When people buy one product, they always recommend it to their friends or co-workers. Therefore, it is extremely effective way to purchasing products. In addition, they are inspired by advertising of this product and buy it. For example, a week ago while I was choosing coke, a clerk suggested me buying Pepsi. Then, I bought it because of his advice. Nowadays, I always buy this coke.

In conclusion, in our modern era, high sales of products are sold by power of advertising instead of real needs of them in society. Because of two reasons namely, marketing tricks and people’s advice, I totally support the idea.
