Band 4+: Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

I strongly agree, that people mostly purchase most of the items because of their advertisements.

Firstly, advertisements are created in order to find the potential customers for a particular good, which in order, helps the industry to increase their sales. Adding on, nowadays advertisements are able to attain a huge coverage with the help of social platforms including media and TV. People all over the world are assissible to all sorts of advertisement, that help them know more about a desirable product. For instance, if you are on a social media site, you would be catching up on to the latest trends in technology with the help of influencers.

Moreover, customers tend to pay more attention on a particular advertisement that signs up buyer’s favourite actors or athletes. In most scenario, this is common technique to attract consumers. For example, if Shahrukh Khan, who is the top Bollywood actor is selected to do an add on any smart watch, then for sure his fans from all over the world would be interested in purchasing that product. Fans tend to act in this manner and show their support and love towards the actor. Even though, advertisement is important area for industries, it does have the power to change people’s wants into needs.

In conclusion, advertisement play a crucial part in hiking of the sales even if the society doesn’t have the real need for it.

Currently, the substantial sales of common consumer items do not stem from the population’s necessity, instead, they are driven by marketing influences. Most products nowadays are sold based on their popularity and marketability, as opposed to the true needs of the consumers, which reflects the immense strangle-hold of advertising. In the cutting-edge digital age, product advertisements are becoming more and more commonplace in vast media. However, the question of whether the influence of commercials on the quantity of goods consumed outweighs the customers’ actual need to purchase them remains a controversial topic. From my perspective, I partly subscribe to this statement. To begin with, […]
