Nowadays, people have less and less tolerance to each other and the antisocial behaviour is increasing everyday. This essay will explain the causes of this problem such as bad parenting and personal beliefs and the ways to reduce it like teaching tolerance in schools and promoting SEL.
First of all, the antisocial behaviour is caused by children’s parents and the way they raised them. People’s personality development depends on their surrounding and their parents are the first people that the child sees. Children think that their parents are always right just until they reach their conscious age. For example, if parents are always rude to others, the child will also have bad attitude, because it seems normal to them. Another reason for the lack of respect to others is people’s personal and cultural beliefs. People with their own beliefs often get mad at others that do not agree with them, wether it is difference in religion or in personal opinions. For instance, if a person hates a nation for historical or political reasons, then he will, for sure try everything to physically or emotionally harm them.
Even if it is impossible to completely get rid of these problems, there are some ways to reduce them. Firstly, teachers have to teach students how important being tolerant to each other is, by the time they are still young. This will help to reduce bullying and in addition, will improve school teaching system. Secondly, people should start promoting SEL, also known as Social and Emotional Learning, to prevent people from having conflicts. SEL will help young people to regulate their emotions, be able to resolve conflicts and develop some social skills.
To sum up, the antisocial behaviour is a problem that is really getting hard to deal with and by teaching children to respect each other and promoting SEL will surely alleviate it.
