In the contemporary world, debate over whether governments should spend money for preserving outdated structures or demolish them has gained significant importance. Some argue that maintaining old buildings is a financial burden on society as it increases taxes, while others support the idea that those structures hold crucial value by representing the city’s history. I also concur that the outdated buildings are invaluable cultural heritages which we have to protect.
To begin with, some old structures are in such poor condition and preserving them requires a great amount of money which means a reduction in the budget for other essential services. Moreover, as better materials and developed technology are used in the construction of newer buildings, it offers more sound and safe environment. For example, certain companies follow environmental regulations in order to reduce detrimental effects of construction process.
On the other hand, as outdated buildings serve as significant cultural and historical landmarks, destroying them would erase a vital link to the past. Preserving such structures help to protect the city’s unique charactheristic and enriches its cultural landscape. For instance, Rome possesses a vintage vibe because of its iconic architectures, and demolishing them would harm its distinctive charm and historical identity. Furthermore, restoration of old structures is more sustainable than knocking them down, since destruction creates seriuos waste and air pollution.
In my opinion, a balanced approach would be the best sollution. While I disagree with the idea of demolishing old structures, I think some of them should be demolsihed for the safety resaons as well. Authorities should evaluate such structures on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as historical and cultural value, cost of maintaining them, etc.
In conclusion, while modern buildings provide more sound and safe environment for dwellers, preserving old ones is equally important as they represent the history and culture of a certain city. I strongly believe that governments must provide a solution by assessing financial drains and moral values.
