Band 5+: Too much money is wasted on repairing old buildings that should be used to knock them down and build new ones. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this fast-paced world, as soon as new buildings are constructed, they will begin to be seen as the old ones with time due to an ongoing process of creating new designs or futuristic architecture. Therefore, I believe that there is no clear need to demolish buildings and to rebuild them because of excessive expanses and time to implement this practise. So, From my point of view, old buildings like historical heritages and other types of buildings should be repaired but not all of them.

On the one hand, It is commonly believed that old buildings should be destroyed and reconstructed instead of renovating them. It can save the land for the population’s demand. But, In my opinion, there may be some objections from the local people to knock their houses down. In such moments,a suggestion to repair them could be considered more agreeable. In addition, To construct new buildings, more time and money is required, leading some individuals to have some challenges, such as finding an apartment for temporary living.

Furthermore, old buildings often hold some historical significances and tourist attractions. Destroying them can cause a loss of historical heritages and few tourists, which can impair the goverment financially. And also historical sites serve to remind the country its origin and background. Hence, repairing them is more beneficial way once again. For example, in my country, in Uzbekistan, There are many preserved historical monuments that make our country known for its history and benefit commercially.

In conclusion, I consider knocking old buildings down and constructing new ones not the best way due to some above-mentioned reasons, and the country can gain some benefits by repairing them both financially and historically.
