The debate surrounding the best approach to learn daily activities of various cultures worldwide, with some prioritizing the merits of recording videos against written texts, remains contentious. From my perspective, I wholeheartedly agree with this notion for several reasons.
On the one hand, some might emphasize the validity of written documentations, providing a myriad of compelling arguments. They argue that knowledge involved in literature, history and geography textbooks cover a wide range of topics which are essential in educating young generations about how humans civilizations have developed throughout decades. Furthermore, these materials are censored throughly and must receive approval before publishing to the public, making them more a more trustworthy source of information.
Conversely, I believe there are more compelling reasons why recording videos’ role in conveying cultural knowledge is superior. Firstly, a significant proportion of individuals, especially those are busy for working schedules or, might find lengthy written stories tedious and dumb. Additionally, in several areas where indigenous inhabitants still grapple with limited education, the impediment in literacy difficulties may also limits their abilities in comprehending written materials. Hence, it can be said that video records is a perfect tool to address these aforementioned issues, becoming more accessible for a broader range of audience in modern world. Furthermore, in today’s tech-driven contexts, it is apparent that digital filming file can be easier spread, compared to printed materials, leading to effective dissemination. For example, a plethora of countries, thanks to the advent of internet, have successfully promote domestic tourism industry by spreading recording footages of their beautiful destinations on social media channels such as Facebook or Instagram.
In conclusion, while understanding the validity of opposing view in some respects, I lean towards the merits of recording videos in greater conveying knowledge about people’ lives in various cultures. Thanks to the advent of technology, filming footages can be easier accessible for a larger viewer’s segmentation and spread on internet, compared to printed materials.
