The society in which we live at present is called a throwaway society because items are used only for a short while. Fast-changing fashion and an increase in people’s willingness to possess likely lead to this condition, and in my opinion, this phenomenon may cause resource waste and environmental damage.
Nowadays, the values of daily items are rather low, and they are thrown away immediately as garbage. This is because everyday factories are producing new fashions, and there is a wide range of choices for consumers. Clothes are the most well-known example, and people tend to change them before their quality becomes bad. Furthermore, there is a natural collective instinct in people’s behavior, and they eagerly want to own more things than they even need. Therefore, these days, throwing things away and purchasing new ones is increasing.
There are several drawbacks to the environment in a throwaway society. Firstly, due to overconsumption, industries generate a great deal of products and utilize a lot of irreplaceable resources, which are also needed to produce important things like gas and electricity. Thus, if they are wasted too much on such unnecessary processes, humans may encounter difficulties in meeting their real needs. In addition, throwing away a lot of things as garbage can damage the environment. For example, nowadays, water pollution is booming because rubbish is thrown into oceans and lakes, hence they are poisoned.
In conclusion, the impact of fashion’s fast change and people’s collective instinct to throw products away is rocketing; therefore, it may be a waste of important resources and lead to increased pollution.
