Band 5+: What are the advantages and disadvantages of leaving your country to live or study abroad?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays a lot of people choose to live or work abroad. Some of them just want to start their life from scratch while others want to widen their horizons and get new experience which will be useful in their future. Of it’s nice and it’s their own life and they can make choices like they want to. However, this has its pros and cons.

The first advantage of living or studying abroad is that you can improve your language skills because you’ll have no choice but to learn a language to understand locals, without understanding the language you won’t be able even to make an order in the Cafe. The second main advantage is that if you moved abroad to study, this will open you more opportunities in your career.

Nevertheless moving abroad can be very stressful and this is one of the main disadvantage, finding an accommodation at the reasonable price and booking a flight can be a real headache. The other disadvantage is that when you move abroad alone you may feel lonely, because you won’t have anyone to share your impressions and interests with and it’s even worse if you don’t know the local language.

In conclusion I would like to say that moving abroad for living or studying is not a bad idea but it has its advantages and diadvantages. But first you should think about your whole plan and decide whether it’s worth it or not.
