As technology develops, nothing remains untouched, and the way young generation entertains themselves is no exception. While utilizing electronic gadgets like television comes with a multitude number of benefits for children, it also contains some drawbacks, none of which is too rudimentary to ignore. In this essay, both merits and demerits will be discussed ahead of my personal view.
On the one hand, unsupervised children are in danger. For instance, according to research carried out, those kids who got used to watching television for several hours are getting much more aggressive compared to their other counterparts. To clarify, this group often takes a look at movie stars as the role models of their lives, so they copy and paste the characters’ wrong behavior regardless of its immediate and long-term dire consequences leading to mental chaos, violence and learning issues.
On the other hand, watching special programs can widen the horizon of children to a great extent. This is because thanks to thousands of beneficial channels, including scientific, historical and musical shows, kids are able to be trained easily since they are keen on movies more than books. For example, many experts opine the young generation has this opportunity to increase their knowledge while being entertained even better than school. Furthermore, by the use of effective animations, like ‘Soul’ they are developed psychologically, which stems from cartoons’ powerful and motivating characters. Generally, there is a meaningful connection between television and educating kids.
In conclusion, although mental disorders are the number one concern for parents, in my perspective, no one dares to underestimate the benefits that stem from this invention. However, our aim should be to limit the amount of time dedicated to watching television.
