Some people have the opinion that universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students. I agree with the idea that both male and female should have equal opportunities but equal ratio of male and female is just unrealistic.
It is actually ridiculous that the ratio of male and female in courses should be of equal number. Universities fill their seat according to the applications they receive. In some cases, the course attracts only one gender. For example, nursing is more attracted by female than male and in case of mechanical work men are most interested. In the situation it is impossible to make a 50-50% of applicants in a course. Coming into reality,if a University decides to fill the course with equal number of students first they should have enough applicants from both gender.
Apart from the practical concerns, there are other issues which arise along with these. I believe that selecting students based on their gender is unfair. Universities must accept the applications based on their grades and educational qualification. It is unfair to replace a female student with higher grade with the mail student who have you a grades just for the sake of equality. In this way students should understand that good opportunities can be achieved when they score good grades.
I conclude by stating my opinion that, physiology cream and women are different. Equal opportunities does not mean the equal number of students in a course but equality is ability for a human to do something good without being question.
