With the increase in housing demand, there has been a surge in the depletion of forest cover. This results in wild animals losing their home. Hence, people believe that it is pointless to dissipate resources on the protection of wild animals. This essay will argue why it is necessary for the protection of wild animals.
Many people believe that planet Earth is only for the benefit of human beings and the notion of protecting wild animals and their habitat is absurd. The primary reason is the greed of human beings to utilize natural resources and accommodate more space for the increasing population. For example, recently, the government of India approved the removal of green cover in the Gandhinagar region for the development of business and residential buildings. It is evident that people, out of their greed, find it non-worthy to protect wildlife.
However, I strongly disagree with the idea that protecting the natural habitat is a waste of resources. The abolition of natural resources and wildlife also means disruption in the ecosystem which can lead to the extinction of various animal species. This imbalance in the ecosystem will consequently cause global warming which is the root of various natural calamities. For example, the depletion of green cover will lead to less absorption of carbon dioxide and will ultimately cause an increase in the greenhouse effect. Furthermore, there is no compelling reason why we should let the animals die out by taking away the last piece of land where they live. For example, the lions were on the verge of extinction for the same reason. Anticipating the aforementioned rationale, I believe that protecting wildlife is not a waste of resources.
This essay argues against the notion of not protecting wildlife and believing it to be a waste of money. In my opinion, protecting wildlife and their natural habitat is entirely justified despite the resources involved in the process.
