Band 6+: With the rapid advancement of communication technology: smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices, some people believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Thanks to the significant development of technology devices such as smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, many argue that it brings more drawbacks than benefits in our life. While high-tech devices have several disadvantages, I believe that it brings more advantages for us.

On the one hand, I acknowledge that smart gadgets have some drawbacks . Firstly, using high- tech devices for a long time leads to physical issues. For example, staring at a screen for an extended period can cause short-sighted problems, headaches or sleep disturbance. Moreover, when they use smartphones, they only sit for several hours and lack movement. As a result, their calorie expenditure drops significantly, which contributes to many serious diseases. Secondly, the production of numerous technological devices causes environmental pollution. This is because the manufacturers require a lot of resources and energy leading to a larger carbon footprint. For example, the waste which includes discarded materials and chemicals can cause pollution and damage to human health.

On the other hand, I believe that the advantages of technology devices outweigh the disadvantages. Firstly, high-tech gadgets such as smartphone, tablets are great tools to access information that helps us in studying and working. This is because almost all knowledge is stored on the Internet nowadays, therefore, using a smartphone is the best way to absorb knowledge quickly. For example, in covid-19 period, technology devices helped us study online through many platforms such as youtube or some online teaching websites. Secondly, people can globally contact each other thanks to technology devices. For example, users can call and text message, and make friends with each other quickly. Moreover, using smartphones to access social media can help users decrease loneliness because they can share their stories on the Internet and get many replies from other people. As a result, using technology devices fosters a modern, well- connected, and efficient lifestyle.

In conclusion, although high-tech devices have certain drawbacks, I believe that it brings more advantages, especially in studying and communication.
