There is a common belief that women are used to have better experience with childcare rather than men. That is why many believe that women need to focus mainly on raising children and their upbringing, by eliminating their career to background. Eventhough I admit that children are mostly dependent on their mothers, I strongly DISAGREE with the statement of created priorities for women, first and foremost, has to equal responsibility and rights to choose their future.
Firstly, focusing more on childcare may negatively impact on mother’s mental health. Usually when women give birth to a child, they are busy with taking care of them during the day and night. The first three years of child’s life are surrounded by mother, since they are dependent on breastfeeding, on adapting to life skils such as walking, listening, and speaking. In a long term, when a female is only focused on child and his/her development, they usually do not have extra time to self-development. That is why, on the basis of this endless loop with the same routine everyday, mother may lose her spark. Consequently, this may lead to various difficult mental health issues and also may be reflected on child’s health too.
Finally, elimination of professional career for woman may limit her employment opportunities in the future. By taking care of child, female are tend to slow down or even stop their career for at least three years. This gap among her job experience could be one of the main factors why she did not pursue enough knowledge, internships, or just a simple working experience. In the consideration with man, who had the same opportunities and time, she may look weaker and less attractive for job. Consequently, it may influence her journey of looking for a job and can slow down this process even more.
In conclusion, taking greater responsibility on child from women perspective may negatively affect to her health and limit her opportunities in future career. A balanced approach that incorporates both freedom and opportunities for future development is likely to be the most effective way of parental responsibility.
