The mainsprings of delinquent behavior in young generations have been discussed for a long term. There were some arguments that genetics play a major role, while others highlight the effect of environmental conditions. In spite of the biological tendencies, the behavior is still mainly influenced by the environment which can be determined if a juvenile engages in delinquent acts, such as theft, vandalism or truancy. This factor should be more considerate, due to the significant negative effects on society.
Some researchs demonstrate that gene contribute to delinquency. For instant, in criminology, there is the MAOA gene which is studied, because of the rise propensity for aggressive and deviant behavior. However, if there were no external triggers, this gene, which was called the warrior gene, might not cause delinquency. At the end of the day, those genetic factors like physical appearances, genders can create a biological tendency towards certain behaviors but still does not guarantee for any criminal purpose.
Most cases of youth offending are rooted in environmental conditions, which could be unstable family structures, exposure to violence or negative peer influence. For example, a teenager who have been with toxic friends may be far more likely to behave the same or force to be obedient by violence. Predominantly, this individual is shaped by their surroundings, may learn to act out due to neglectful or abusive family. The external effects not only provoke delinquency but also maintain it, especially when child protection services and anti – bullying program are lacking. As a consequence, genetic predispositions set the foundation, however, it is the environment that initiates the action.
Deviant behavior in upbringings impacts society in multi – critical ways. When it happened, it is obviously going to increase the crime rates and burden legal systems. But specially their educations which will be disturbed, may lower long – term development and future opportunities. For example, this could lead to higher chances of unemployment or low-paying jobs, it can also increased risk of mental health issues such as anxiety. Eventually, were more precautions in place, society might face fewer consequences.
In conclusion, the environmental causes outweigh the genetics in shaping delinquent behavior. Because it brings up the aggressiveness inside and also influences juvenile to do the same illegal actions, which occur around in their daily basis. Undoubtedly, delinquency often spreads from external conditions, not just by individual choices. If there is an early intervention in household, education and community settings, it can significantly reduce the propensity of future criminal behavior.
