It is believed by some that public libraries should not give facilities of hi-tech media and only should provide books because it is assumed that providing such facilities would be waste of limited resources. Although I believe that these technologies could be distracting, I strongly feel that it must included as the benefits of these hi-tech are insurmountable.
To begin with, the main reason of why public libraries should include hi-tech media facilities beside keeping books is profound and precise information. If a library has a computer software, it would be easier for the librarians to cope up with challenges they face. For example, when a student is having difficulties regarding their reading topic, they might be able to use a computer software for searching about it. As some website contains precise data and there would be wide range of information available, it would be beneficial for learners to understand a topic that seems tough.
On the other hand, keeping hi-tech media on a public library is helpful for gaining some practical knowledge. Theoretical lessons could be less understandable. If there are DVDs in a library, students could use it to watch a movie or video related to the topic and understand the depth of the story more accurately. For example, the book “Godfather” is available on the website as a movie and students could better understand the moral of the story by watching this rather than just by reading it on a book.
To conclude, I would like to reiterate that while hi-tech media could be harmful in some conditions for students, it would be able to facilitate them in many terms.
