Essay:

It is often argued that public libraries ought to spend their money mainly on books instead of using their small budgets on high-costly modern materials like computer programs, films, or DVDs. I completely disagree with this view because some people may have trouble with receiving information from books, and they might consume the new information through sound or video. The following discussion presents the key reasons supporting my opinion. (69 words)

Initially, a significant rationale is that people learn in different ways, and reading is not the best method for everyone. While some people can easily understand information from books, others may find it hard to follow long texts or complex descriptions. Because of this, audio and video materials can be very helpful for those who learn better by listening or watching. These modern resources make information easier to understand and remember. For example, a student who does not fully understand a history topic from a book may understand it much better after watching a documentary or listening to an educational recording. Therefore, libraries should offer different types of learning materials to users to cover their needs. (116 words)

Another important point is that technology plays a huge role in today’s world, especially in education and communication. As a result, public libraries must adapt to these changes in order to stay useful and attract more visitors. Many people, particularly young students, depend on digital tools for studying and research. For instance, some students cannot afford expensive software or online subscriptions, so libraries can support them by providing access to these resources. This helps reduce inequality among the society and gives everyone a chance to learn. (86 words)

Consequently, I have a strong basis to assert that public libraries should not focus only on books. This is mainly due to the fact that modern media helps different types of learners and keeps libraries relevant in the fast-changing world. (40 words)
