In contemporary society today, arts play an important role in cultural life among people. A prevailing view holds that freedom should be brought to creative artists in order to express their ideas; while some people argue some restrictions should be regulated by the government. From my perspective, I mostly agree with upbringing the restrictions to freedom in arts.
On the one hand, that artists are free to express themselves has a number of merits. Firstly, if they have unlimited rights to exhibit their creativity, they can bring to society the most completed releases which are recognised by people. Besides, from the perspective of artists, they can enhance the quality of content and also develop themselves. For instance, in music, plenty of indie artists, who are not quite well-known, can have the freedom as the foundation for the progress in their career.
On the other hand, I’m supposed that together with freedom, there should be a frame to not overextend leading to negativity. First of all, the government can take action for a set of rules to restrict the content, words, images to make it suitable for ages. This results in a cultured community and they are not distorted by inappropriate arts. A significant example for this is the penalty for HVL, an album of Vietnamese artist MCK, which includes a number of improper choice of words in his songs; however, after revising, he has come back with the same album with many enhancement and complement that have been approved by a far more range of people.
Nevertheless, from another view, if there are no restrictions among arts, the government should attempt some solutions to make artists engaged in. Although awareness of people should be raised in the choice of freedom in arts, the government and the artists must have a connection to be able to understand one another’s thoughts and ideas.
In conclusion, it is inevitable that freedom in the arts should be restricted to a level to avoid negativity which can be raised among the society.
