When I first commenced secondary school, my teacher explained to us todays’ generation are more educationed than previous generations. Later I heard that some people are of the opinion that people have to compete more for jobs and that is why people need to be more qualified. While others lean towards believing that people want to study higher level education because the opportunities are there to do so. In the following paragraphs I will examine both stances and then offer my own opinion.
On the one hand today’s job market is highly competitive with globalisation and technological advancements the demand for skilled and knowledgable workers has increased significantly. That is to say young people strive to higher educations to distinguish themselves from their peers. One instance that exemplifies this is the many students try to get advanced degrees and professional certifications to enhance their job opportunities. Morever this strong competition for desired jobs undoubtedly pushes individuals to invest more in their education.
In contrast to more educational opportunities has been important in improving young
people’s qualifications. Over the past few decades, the number of universities and professional training academy worldwide has significantly increased. In addition, online education platforms have made learning more quality. Scholarships, grants, and student loans have also enabled more individuals to study higher education. These opportunities empowered young people to achieve higher education regardless of their life standard and economic backgrounds.
All things considered, it seems to me that while job market has effected to become higher qualifications, the increased higher educational opportunities has been the key factor in the improved qualifications of today’s youth. By providing more opportunities for learning and development, society has enabled young people acquire the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the modem World
