Maryam Mirzakhani Maryam Mirzakhani was an Iranian mathematician who worked as a professor in America and was the first woman to be awarded a Fields Medal. She worked in the geometry of Riemann surfaces. She graduated from Sharif University of Technology in 1999, immigrated to the United States to continue her studies, and received her doctorate from Harvard University in 2004. MaryamMirzakhani was born on May 22. She was the third child of family her father was a manager from Alborz when she was in high school she got a gold medal in math and also in two years in row she got complete grade in Olympic math in Canada
