Whilst, some individuals believe that college students should only be taught on topics such as science and technilogy which is more pratical in furture, I believe that students in their third-level of education should have the freedom to choose their field of study which will result in students being more engaged and passionate about learning.
On one hand, studying science and technology can prove to be benifical for university learners in life because every organisms, mechanism and invention in our daily life involves different aspects of science; Physics, Biology and Chemistry. For instance, biology helps us understand how a living or non living being comes into existance, grows and regenerates. This knowledge is essential espically for health care professionals who plays a vital role in the community.
On the other hand, i believe that students in their higher education stage should have the free will to persuade any field of studies they want. When their interest meets guidance from the teachers, students would be more willing to engage, learn and perform better. This will help them glide easily towards their professions of interest utlimately becoming an assest to others. For example, students in colleges chose to study various fields influenced by family, peers and financial stability and least by their passion, but most end up quitting or failing mid way.
In a nutshell, although persuading students in university to study just science and technology in pratical for future, i believe that encouraging them to study in line with their passion and interest would be more benificial for their learning process and future.
