The given maps illustrate the changes in a small local museum and its surroundings between 1957 and 2007.
Overall, the most noticeable change was the replacement of many green areas with several major infrastructure developments. More interestingly, the museum became extensive over the period in question.
In 1957, the museum was located in the centre, surrounded by various green spaces. On the west side of the map, there was a path that led to the entrance hall of the museum. The museum included three rooms, namely the national history exhibition, the local history room, and the museum store room. The largest room was the national history exhibition, situated in the north of the building. On the western side, next to the national history exhibition, there was a local history room, which was opposite the museum’s storage room.
In 2007, the museum experienced striking development, including an extended size and the removal of numerous trees. It is conspicuous that the pathway and a few trees were removed to make way for the new car park. As a result, the entrance was moved to the east, which led to a museum shop. On the north side of the showroom, there was a new special exhibition above the local history room, which was next to an education centre. In addition, the local history room was reconstructed to double its old size, connected to the reception on the south, which is next to a cafe.
