In the recent world, some say that if athletes want to be more successful, they should equip themselves with several mental factors like dedication, self-belief, and determination, while others are of the opinion that it is more crucial to be strong in the physical aspect. From my perspective, I strongly lean towards the former.
On the one hand, there are some possible reasons why sports players should have a physically strong body. Primarily, for strenuous sports, athletes must meet professional standards including energy, speed, and the ability to push and lift heavy things. Take the SEA Games 26 as an example. Vietnamese swimming athlete Anh Vien participated in the 400-meter tournament and reached the second top spot because she has not only powerful legs, but also precise skills to swim more quickly. According to that, physically strong factors can give a great number of competitive advantages. In addition, sports matches aim to find the strongest and most skillful person in the globe. Therefore, physical strength might allow players to get a higher score than others and obtain their goals.
On the other hand, I claim that mental strength must also be an indispensable requirement to achieve greater heights in sports to a certain extent. Firstly, the necessity of motivation for each individual still plays an impressive role. For example, before embarking on a football match, athletes need to devote their whole time to practicing day by day harder than normal. Because of the competition, it leads to the issue that athletes can potentially suffer from a lack of energy, or even a distraction, so if they have a strong mental well-being to make dynamic actions, that problem is simple to mitigate. Secondly, it is undeniable that criticisms always appear in both fields of sport due to defeated rounds. Viewers will be disappointed with the loss of control over their voices, which can strike athletes adversely on their minds. As a result, a strong mental attitude is essential to overcome hardships and succeed in the future.
In conclusion, although there are two different sides to physical and mental strength, I typically choose mental strength as a key to success since it can foster passion and continue improving the sports line.
