Technology has significantly transformed the way of communication between individuals. While many individuals argue that advancement in technology has reduced the social interaction of people, I believe that it is a two edged sword and offers considerable negative consequences along with positive impacts.
In this technological era, it is true that technology have reduced the need of face to face communication. People use mobile phones and other electronic gadgets very often and use applications like TikTok and Instagram to stay connected with their friends and tend to spend most of their time in their homes. It takes a lot of their attention and causing them to become less engaged in real life. In result, this trend fosters social anxiety and makes a person less sociable. Modern children are prime example of this trend as they invest most of their time in chatting with friends using mobile phones and as a result, when it comes to the real social interaction, they get nervous.
Conversely, modern technology has allowed people to communicate with each other on larger platforms. It gives you the freedom to build relationships and friends online, to learn about different cultures and to explore the world through internet. Moreover, due to technology, people stay updated with the most up-to-date information. In addition to this, many corporate offices are now working online, specially after the covid pandemic, minimising the need of physical interactions and allows workers to socialize via social apps.
In conclusion, I would say modern technology impacted the social interactions of people significantly and to some extents, it reduces the capabilities of a person to interact physically. However, one should not ignore the fact that because of this technology, people can connect with each other more conveniently.
