  1. Cel Med says:

The given line graph illustrates the changes in household ownership of electrical appliances and the amount of time spent on housework in one country over a 99-year period from 1920 to 2019. Units are measured in percentages.

Overall, it can clearly be seen that there was a significant increase in the ownership of refrigerators and vacuum cleaners over the given period.

Specifically, washing machines and vacuum cleaners stood at exactly 40% and 30% in 1920, respectively. Moreover, they both reached the same level at 70% in 1950. While vacuum cleaners saw a rise to 90% in 1980, washing machines saw a decline to approximately 65% in 1980. Afterward, washing machines experienced a slight increase to around 75% in 2019. In contrast, vacuum cleaners remained stable and reached a peak of 100% between 2000 and 2019.

On the other hand, refrigerators showed a significant increase over the given period. In detail, refrigerators started at 0% in 1920 and dramatically climbed to 90% in 1960. Furthermore, this appliance reached a peak of 100% from 1980 until 2019.  BAND 7.5

  2. Atiya says:

The given line graphs demonstrate the percentage of properties of electrical tools and the amount of time allocated for chores in a particular country over a span of nearly a century, from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, it is clear that the proportions of almost all appliances witnessed a dramatic increase, where the usage of washing machines and vacuum cleaners started at under half of the total share. Additionally, the hours spent on housework illustrated a gradual decrease.

In detail, the utilization of washing machines and vacuum cleaners began at a similar level, at 40% and 30% respectively. Notably, by 1960, almost 70% householders used both appliances, but if the usage of the second machine depicted a rise to the highest percentage, 100% in 2000, the first ones’ figure, conversely, slightly declined by approximately 10% in 1980. However, its proportion leveled off to 75% at the end of the period.

The ownership of a refrigerator, in terms of comparison to other products, started at the bottom at 0% in 1920. However, in 1960, its number surged, surpassing other appliances, to 90%, and it reached a maximum of 100%, maintaining this figure until the end of the period.

In terms of the time allocated to the housework, namely, washing clothes, making dinner, and cleaning, 50 hours per week were spent on doing the chores in 1920. Nonetheless, by 2019, with a moderate decrease to only 10 hours per week, people did the housework.

  3. Ali.naveed Shah says:

The line graphs illustrate the evolution of appliance ownership and the associated time allocated for housework in a particular country over a span of nearly a century, from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, there has been a significant upward trend in the ownership of electrical appliances, concurrent with a notable decline in the weekly hours dedicated to housework.

The first graph highlights the progression in household ownership of three key electrical appliances: washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners. Notably, the proportion of households equipped with washing machines commenced at 0% in 1920, progressively escalated to 90% by 1960, and ultimately reached full ownership (100%) by the year 2019. In contrast, refrigerator ownership began at 0% in 1920, experienced a gradual increase to 50% by 1940, surged to 90% by 1960, and achieved complete saturation at 100% by 1980. Vacuum cleaners, while initially less common, started at 0% in 1920 and exhibited steady growth, reaching 30% of households by 1940, 60% by 1960, and finally attaining 100% ownership by 2000, remaining constant thereafter.

The second graph reveals a striking correlation between increased appliance ownership and a reduction in the hours dedicated to housework. The average time spent on housework per household began at a substantial 50 hours per week in 1920. This figure diminished significantly to 40 hours by 1940, 30 hours by 1960, and further declined to 20 hours by 1980. It is noteworthy that this trend stabilized at approximately 15 hours per week from 2000 to 2019, reflecting a shift in domestic responsibilities as technological advancements in household appliances took effect.

  4. Asif Ullah Khan says:

The two line graphs demonstrate the percent change in households with electrical devices and the duration of time of housework in a specific country from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, the homes containing appliances, including washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners, increased in the given duration, with the highest percentage of washing machines at the start and the lowest ratio at the end of time. Also, the number of hours of housework per week per house decreased between 1920 and 2019.

First, the refrigerator marked a significant increase, starting from 0% in 1920, surpassed both other pieces of equipment in 1960, and peaked at 100% in 1980 and onwards. Also, the reduced pressure cleaner shows a remarkable percent increase from 30% in the beginning, overtook the washing machine in 1980, and reached to a maximum of 100% in 2000 and remained at this stage for the remaining time till the end. Moreover, the percentage of homes with washing devices increased from 40% in 1920 to 70% in 1960, and then a steady rate is observed throughout the period, except for a little decline in 1980.

In the second line chart, a sharp decrease is observed in the number of hours per week per home from 50 hours to 20 hours in 1960, and then a steady decrease down to 10 hours was noted in 2019.

  5. fatima ait atman says:

The provided charts illustrate the proportion of families that owned electrical appliances, and the amount of hours spent by households on housework in one region from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, it is clear that almost all households relied on the vacuum cleaner and the refrigerator by 2019; as a result, the number of hours spent on housework decreased significantly.

In 1920, although the refrigerator was not prioritized, its percentage of ownership increased considerably, peaking at 100% by 2019. Similarly, for the vacuum cleaner, despite only 30% of families bought it in 1920, it was available in all households by 2019. While the washing machine was not popular among households compared with the first two, its percentage of ownership climbed steadily throughout the given period, reaching roughly 71% in 2019.

Regarding the hours of housework, they fell significantly from 50 hours in 1920 to around ten hours per week by 2019.

  6. Md. Shahriar Haque Shemul says:

The two line graphs depict the trends in owning different electric home appliances in percentages and the hours required to do house chores per week over the period from 1920 to 2019.

It is evident that, over these years, people have shown more interest in buying electric appliances, and the time spent doing housework has witnessed a decline accordingly.

Here, the chart on the top compares the percentages of owning three appliances. The one that started low at 0% in 1920 but rocketed over the years and peaked first at 100 percent within 1980 is the refrigerator. Then, the second appliance to reach 100% of households in the year 2000 is the vacuum cleaner, which started at 30% in 1920. The last appliance to discuss is the washing machine, which started relatively higher at 40 per 100 homes in 1920, even going through some decline in 1980 at just above 60%. Although it also climbed almost gradually and finished at around 75% in 2019.

On the other hand, the trend of decline is steady in the second chart at the bottom. People used to spend 50 hours per week on chores in 1920. It decreased rapidly until 1960 and reached 20. Afterward, the decline was dimmer before levelling off at about 15% between 1980 and 1990. Finally, the time needed for housework was just above 10 hours in 2019.

  7. Russia says:

The line graph illustrates the percentage of households with electrical appliances and the rate of hours spent on housework per week in a single country from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, the usage of refrigerators, although they started to be used in 1920, had a significant increase, along with vacuum cleaners. It also can be seen that the rate of time spent doing house work fell dramatically during the given period.

To begin with, the percentage of households using refrigerators grew dramatically from 0% in 1920 to approximately 55% in 1940 and continued this trend up until 2019, rising to 100%. Similarly, the number of people using vacuum cleaners steadily rose from 30% and peaked at 100% in 2019. Meanwhile, the percentage of households owning washing machines showed a similar trend of steady growth up untill the end of the period, with a slight fluctuation in 1980 at about 65%.

However, the number of hours spent on housework saw a large decrease, going from 50 hours a week in 1920 to around 15 in 1980. It reached a plateau in 1980 and experienced a minor drop to 10 hours in 2019.

Generally speaking, the usage of the three electrical appliances increased from 1920 to 2019, whereas the number of hours spent on housework by each household each week decreased in the same period.

In 1920, no households used refrigerators; however, the percentage of households using them increased significantly to 90% in 1960, followed by a moderate increase to reach a peak at 100% in 1980. This increased trend continued to the end in 2019. Similarly, the figure for vacuum cleaner usage rose dramatically from 30% in 1920 to 100% in 2000, then it remained unchanged until 2019. There was a fluctuation with a moderate increase for the percentage of households using washing machines from 30% in 1920 to approximately 75% in 2019.

Regarding the number of hours of electricity usage for each household each week, it experienced a dramatic decrease from 50 hours in 1920 to around 15 hours in 1980. The decrease trend eased a bit to reach just over 10 hours in 2019.
