The chart compares the four highest ranking countries in terms of the production of coffee in three years 2011, 2012 and 2013.
It is noticeable that there was an overall increase in the figure for coffee produced in each of the four nations over the period shown. Also, of the four coffee producers, Brazil was by far the largest one.
In 2011, coffee production in Brazil was about 43,000 thousand units, nearly double the figure for Vietnam, at approximately 23,000 thousand units. One year later, the figure for Brazil rose by about 7,000 thousand units before falling slightly to under 50,000 thousand units in 2013. Meanwhile, there was a marginal drop in the amount of coffee produced in Vietnam in 2012, followed by an increase to well under 30,000 thousand units one year later.
Regarding the remaining countries, coffee output in Indonesia and Colombia was roughly similar and significantly lower than that in Brazil and Vietnam. To be specific, ranging between 8,000 and 9,000 thousand units in 2011, the figures for Indonesia and Colombia rose slightly to over 100,000 thousand units each over the period shown.
