Overall, it is evident that there was an increase in the average retirement age for both genders in several Nations. except Italy where age reminded steady for men and decreasing trend was noticed for women. Sweden had the highest retirement age while Italy had the lowest.
At first glance, for men Sweden had highest retirement age in both years from 63 to 63.7. Conversely, Netherlands, UK, and Germany had slight difference between group of retired people , standing at 62 61 and 60 in 2004 which also roughly rise to 62.1, 62.9 and 61 respectively. Surprisingly, Italy had lowest retirement age for men by 58 in both years . Lastly , in case of Denmark and France identical retired people in 2004 roughly 58.
Looking at the data for women Sweden , Netherlands, UK , Germany all saw an increase in retirement age from 2004 to 2008 to 62.5, 62 , 65 and 60 respectively. Denmark and France also experience accelerations to above 58 . It is noticeable that , Italy only country where the retirement age decreased in the letter year from 56.5 to 56.
