Band 5+: Obesity is a growing concern around the world, especially among young children and working adults. Why is this happening and how can we tackle it ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There are two primary reasons why people worldwide are becoming obese. One main factor is people are overconsuming junk food more than healthy food. This is due to the fact that junk food is more affordable and accessible than nutritious foods. A particularly good example of this is, set at chicken fried from KFC is about 100 THB, whereas salad from Sizzler start at 200 THB. Furthermore, junk food can be found all over the the country and 7-11 on every street corner. In contrast, nutritious food hard to find on the local street and the cost is exorbitant. A particularly good example of this is when a young children go to school in the morning and their parents have no time to find any useful breakfast so their have to find affordable food in 7-11.

Secondly, people are less exercise as it should be. This is due to the fact that some people are afraid of being judged. For instance, everybody that the majority of them is good at sports is playing basketball, but I am not good at basketball so I’m afraid to play with them. Another example is people are lack of time, working adults by the time get off from work is around 6 p.m. then they go home.

To solve this problem, the government has to make healthy food affordable and accessible. They can accomplish this by implementing a policy for all 7-11 stores to offer a healthy food section and financially supporting farmer to import more healthy food in 7-11 without middleman. Additionally, they can achieve this by subsidizing the company to construct the fitness for the common area.

Children do not all develop at the same pace. and this is particularly noticeable when they acquire language skills.
