In order to have equality in society, some argue to compensate blue collar jobs equally as the qualified ones, but I completely disagree with this statement and advocate to have remuneration based upon the qualifications and skills someone acquires.
The first primary reason for believing in this fact is that a certain degree or a qualification is not just a paper, it is an achievement of efforts, and hard work that one has put at a very young age with a view to earning a higher salary, and better lifestyle. It is an investment and high salary is its result. Providing the same salary to workers doing only hard work will not only disrespect their efforts, but it will also affect motivation of kids, and youngsters. Additionally, they will be discouraged for pursuing higher education. This will create an imbalance in society in providing jobs, and be injustice to highly qualified people as years of efforts may felt wasted.
Another significant reason is that achieving high qualifications can foster an ability to innovate and grow. People with higher level of education is more likely to innovate and creativity in various aspects. Providing an equal pay to all can completely disrespect efforts of being productive and innovative therefore, they will not feel encouraged to innovate and eventually stop contributing to growth. Apart from this, growth of a nation can be measured through different technologies or innovations it has given to the world, not by the amount of hard work. This will be an obstacle for a nation as innovations will be discontinued or innovators may feel discouraged.
Subsequently, the third reason of advocating income disparity according to one’s qualification is that the amount of responsibility one has to bear for having proper qualification is comparatively higher than labourers. A single decision can have a significant effect over someone’s life. Therefore, it is mandatory to value the decisions of qualified ones as they have put years of efforts and knowledge to master these skills to make informed decisions. For instance, professions such as doctors, engineers or financial advisors have to be qualified enough and undergo through years of practice , therefore they deserve higher salary as a single decision by them can affect someone’s entire life.
By considering these three predominant reasons such as discouraging efforts of highly qualified workers, being reluctant to innovate, and weight of certain responsibilities. I disagree with the fact that hard workers should get an equal pay as qualified workers therefore, I advocate for having remuneration based upon the qualifications and skills someone achieves.
