Nowadays, children prefer spending their free time watching TV over many other activities ; with all conviction of its bad effect on their education and development, the parents have been more preoccupied wondering whether their fears are relevant or not.
Watching too much TV can indeed be harmful more than it is thought to be ; first of all, the time spent on it could be less controlled since it increases the curiosity level to watch the maximum shows possible, without any filter of the quality especially when the parents are absent. By the time, a certain type of dependence may occur letting aside all the usual activities children used to enjoy such as reading books, playing with friends outside and even developing some bad habits such as neglecting their homeworks etc.
The second point, is as much important as the first one which is the children’s health. It is not negotiable that watching TV excessively may hurt their vision, nowadays, more children wear glasses. Moreover, TV may also affect their mental health and personality , for example it is discussed that staying hours in front of the screen may increase the risk of autism.
Watching TV can be a lot helpful with educating and developing children’s mindset, however, it can also have multiple side effects if it is used excessively and without any supervision by the parents or the one in charge.
