I think technology can hinder the development of empathy significantly. It is widely believed that technology is a blessing to all of us, but some people are using it for negative purposes like terrorism and spreading fraudulent information. This creates rumors among people, which is a very bad thing to do. So it's really hindering the development of empathy.
