Overall, the students expenditure patterns diverged drastically over a three-year period, with the maximum expenses on Entertainment and least expenses on children.
Money spent on Entertainment purposes increased from nearly over 25% to slightly over 30%. A similar upward trend was observed in case of essential travels where expenditure rose from almost 4% to about 6%. Also, the expenses on other purposes jumped from approximately 12% to slightly over 15%.
In contrast, for non-essential travels, the expenses slightly fell off from near about 4% to about 3%. Moreover, accommodation rents significantly declined from 24% to 20%. Consequently, a drop from 20% to nearly 18% was recorded on the money spent on food, bills, and households goods. Course expenditure decreased substantially from 10% to slightly less than 7%. Interestingly, no money was spent on children in the year 1999.
