The graph compares the expenditure of higher education students aged under 26 in the United Kingdom in year 1996 and 1999.
Generally, similar budget are found in the major sources of expenditure. For example, students in the two different time periods put one-quarter of their budget on accommodation and daily essentials such as food and bills respectively. Moreover, entertainment remained as the cateragy with the higher expenditure across three-year period.
However, differences are found while comparing the allocation of expenditure. In 1999, students tended to spend more on entertainment and other non-esential consumer items and saved moreon accommodation and food and bills those necessary expenditure, showing a significant change. What’s more, students in 1999 did not have the expense on children, illustrating another difference accross the three-year gap. In short, students in higher education have similar pattern of expenditure in the three-year period, while differences are present.
