I will talk about chemistry, which was the subject that I struggled with a lot during my high school and first year at university. Before that, I mostly studied physics and math, but when I studied chemistry, it felt like a whole different world. The main reason I found it challenging was that it's very abstract and requires a lot of memorization. I had to understand how those tiny particles, atoms, and molecules interact. I remember sitting in class looking at the periodic table, which is basically a massive chart containing elements and symbols. I felt totally overwhelmed by all those alien languages, and trying to balance the chemical equations felt like a difficult puzzle rather than just a science lesson. I felt pretty frustrated for the first few months because I couldn't memorize and apply the molecules' characteristics to applications. However, things started to click when I did lab experiments. Creating liquids that changed color or producing bubbles made the theory more understandable. At that point, I realized that chemistry isn't just symbols on a page. It's really fascinating and thought-provoking in its own way. Even though I had to pull a few all-nighters to pass the exam, I'm glad that I received good grades in the end. It really changed the way I look at the world. Now I can apply some of my background to read scientific papers and some detective novels that I enjoy in my free time.
