Today I would like to share a time that I helped someone in need, and I would like to talk about a special education needs student in my education center. As I mentioned, I work as a part-time tutor in an educational center, and there was a SES student with ASD. He is very quiet, and he doesn't like to talk. His attention span is very short; he cannot focus for a long time, maybe only for not even half an hour. Many teachers dislike him because they think that the student is naughty or just hard to handle, but I don't think so. I know that he has ASD, and I don't mean to look at him through a special lens, but I know that he needs some special care. So, I tried to talk with him. At first, he ignored me, but I tried to engage him with topics he liked, and he started to accept me and began to talk to me. Then I gradually taught him at home for his homework, and he knew that I was helping him. Now, I would say that he likes me quite a lot. I think this contributes to our good relationship because we had a good start instead of seeing him as a troublemaker.
