Yes, I definitely believe that it's more convenient and fruitful to learn a foreign language when you can immerse yourself in the social life of the country where the language is spoken. This is for various reasons, but I think the major factor is the idea that you can hear native speakers all the time. You will be able to communicate with them daily and discuss various topics on a regular basis. I even have an example of this. My boyfriend was learning German for many years because he wanted to go and study in Germany. The biggest progress he made was when he actually moved to live in Bremen and started to communicate with German people regularly. That was the turning point in his studies of the German language, and he became more fluent when he did this.
