I’d like to talk about a technology innovation competition that I joined last year. The task was to develop and present a sustainable technology project. It was a team competition and there were 5 members in my group, including me. What made the experience quite unique was that all of us came from different regions and backgrounds. Because of that, we had to communicate online most of the time and divide the work carefully. My responsibility was mainly related to research and preparing parts of the presentation. Meanwhile, other team members worked on the design, data collection, and technical aspect of the project. Although we eventually completed the project’s success, successfully, I have to admit that working in the team was not always easy. Some members were difficult to coordinate it with, and there were times when communication was slow. As a result, a few tasks were completed later than expected. To solve those problems, we tried to set deadlines and regularly discuss our progress. Even though the collaboration was sometimes challenging, we managed to finish the project on time. To be honest, I didn’t fully enjoy working in that particular team. However, I learned a lot from the experience. It tells me that teamwork is not only about sharing tasks, but also about passion, communication, and problem solving. Looking back, I think it helped me to develop important leadership and collaboration skills.
