Band 5: the plans show the ground floor of the library in 2001 and how it was redeveloped in 2009. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The two maps compare the difference between the layout of the library in the ground floor in 2001 and the way it was upgraded in 2009.

Overall, there have been … major adjustments to the library, with various modern equipment and locations to the both sides.

To be specific, the library has seen no changes to the entrance located along the bottom edge and the librarian’s desk in front and the stairs in the right hand side of the entrance witnessed the same tendency. Moreover, two computers in front of the stairs have been added, while in the middle of the center, there were eight tables, which have been redeveloped into four longer ones.

Additionally, situated along the left hand side were history and self help from top to bottom which has been transformed to create space for a law, economics, kitchen, self help, fiction and history. Furthermore, a fiction room, which was at the top of the center, has been converted to children’s books, and the children’s area in front has been added. Last but not least, situated along the right hand side, there was a newspaper and periodicals, which has been reconstructed into films and DVDs.
