Some students have a negative response towards studying at school; they dislike going to school and studying there. This could be due to many factors, but one of the most striking factors, which I think is relevant, is that schools often have a more exaggerated and theoretical outlook, whereas those particular students are more inclined to engage with something pragmatic and practical. For example, engineering schools emphasize bookish language, while most graduates often complain about needing more practical experience to delve deeper into the subject matter. This could be one of the most important triggers for students disliking school and studying there. Apart from that, it depends on many psychological factors; some people are by nature lazy, but I'm not judging anyone here. So, apart from the criticism of being excessively theoretical, this is a significant reason for this issue.
