From my point of view, formal education is absolutely not aimed at giving real-life skills to children and not preparing them for real-life challenges. For example, in schools, we have so many subjects like chemistry and physics, which can be essential only for some narrow specialists who want to become professionals in those fields. On the other hand, they don't provide children with really useful skills, such as how to manage their money and how to pay taxes. From my perspective, it would be really useful to know how to perform these actions. Additionally, it might be quite useful to know how to cook and prepare food for yourself, and unfortunately, this isn't taught at school at all.
