Individuals believe that zoos can help rare animals thrive, but I do not agree with this statement because humans cannot recreate the exact inhabitant for animals.

Some believe that zoos can preserve rare animals by creating a safe place. Limiting animals to certain areas allows to rule out any risks of the rare animal dying. These establishments create an area, where all commodities are provided without any threats. Additionaly, the conditions for reproduction are perfect, and offspring surviving rate is very high because of the level of security they are privileged. However, in a long run, I think, zoos cannot maintain the complex tapestry of nature, where all animals are interconnected. The wildlife has been adopting to the environment for centuries, every participant has been living with certain conditions and developed habits that deal with these external factors. Thus, to make an exact copy humans have to bring whole nature in a zoo, which is not possible for now and for the next several decades.

Zoos are not strictly regulated by authoroties, which leads to the neglect of the certain aspects of animal care. Animal-keeping establishments are not compiled to go along with laws that could otherwise oblige them to sustain conditions necessary. The absence of regulatory frameworks may allow “slips” to happen. Those in charge may save money on the commodities and some of the aspects left unaddressed. For example, the majority of zoos neglect social interactions between species, which leads to animal well-being decline. If governments incorporated distinct regulations for zoos, this establishments would be more motivated to provide proper care for those in captivity.

To conclude, although zoos can sometimes help to preserve rare animals, humans cannot create proper conditions for animals that could replace complex environmental processes in a long run. Moreover, due to the absence of laws that could potentially oblige zoo authorities to provide conditions necessary, most of these establishments save money on crucial provisions.
