The given chart illustrates the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 to 2011. Before 1970, a huge number of individuals used to live in rented houses and later on they started to stay in owned houses.
It is clear that, in 1918, almost 75% population of England and Wales lived in rented houses. And then, the amount of rented households decreased over the time period. In 2011, this number is just 35% that is big difference as compare to 1918s. The amount of owned households went up gradualy since 1918s. We can see a noticeable change after 1970s.
20% of Individuals used to live in rented houses and rose up to 65% in 2011. In 1970, contribute of peoples was 50% in rented and owned households. There is proper pattren in change since 1918 till 2001. But after that, we can see a minimal surge in 2011.
The chart illustrates the percentage of rented and owned household accommodation in England and Wales between the year of 1918 and 2011.
Overall, the percentage of rented households was greater than the owned ones, which was around 78% in the year 1918; it also shows that the percentage of owned households was only 23% at the start of the year.
Well, in the years of 1939 and 1953, the percentage of rented households came down to 68% and was quite the same in the both years, and it also shows the same percentage between owned households which was 32%. however, the time goes on and the percentage of rented households were decreasing year by year but in the last year it increased by 35%.
On the other hand, the percentage of owned accommodation was increasing throughout these years but it also fluctuates by 64%. Moreover it also shows that the both accommodation systems shows equal percentage which was 50% in the year of 1971.
