She spoke to them with warmth, made them feel seen and showed me that dignity is something everyone deserves. I was struck by how natural it was for her. She didn’t see this as a grand gesture, it was simply how she believed others should be treated equally. That moment changed me a lot, it made me feel proud, not just what she did, but of the values sleep by. I saw that restraint isn’t treating others with kindness or a terroristic, especially when no one else does. I carried that bride with me every day and that resonated with me to live up that moment forever in my life. I think she had that behavior because she had to undergo a lot of hudders in her childhood.
