I cannot speak for other people, but I actually considered studying law at university while I was in high school. My idea came from personal motivations. I think it would lead to a satisfactory life to be able to enforce good ethics and get paid while doing it. However, there are also plenty of other reasons to study law. For example, I think it has good career prospects, which is pretty attractive to many students. Apart from that, I don't have any idea.
