History has never been my favorite subject, but there are some periods of history which I have always fascinated me and I would like to know more about them. Today, I am thrilled to share the historical period I am most excited to delve into, which is 1947. Back in 8th grade, I read about the events of August 15, 1947. I learned that on this day, India gained independence from british rule. Many people sacrificed their lives, including countless multtyires who gave their lives for the well being of the country. This day also marked the separation of Pakistan from India, known as the partition of India. During this period, some people were able to return home safely, while others tragically died and lost their lives. I am eager to learn more about this incident because the information in my textbook was not. Not enough. I spoke to my grandmother about it and she explained everything in detail. She lived through that time and has a deeper understanding. But than what’s written in books, I believe I can gain, uh, a more comprehensive understanding of why this incident occurred and how indian people lived under british rule. I have learned that during this period, the British forced Indians to grow cash crops for their own profit, neglecting the production of food groups essential for the survival of the people. The Britishers also established industries and compelled Indians to in with them. This historical period fascinates me and I want to explore it further. I am particularly interested in learning about life before independence and how it improved after India gained its freedom.
