Well today I’m going to talk about law that I am familiar with. This is called industrial law. It’s a universal law but it’s what I know about it. It’s based on Bangladesh. As I’m an engineer I work at construction sites. While I was doing my engineering degree back at the university, we had taught about this course, Industrial Law, which was really important but I didn’t realize it at first because it seemed like a law course which is not really well known for us engineers, engineering students. So as I got to know more and more about this, it’s really about protecting the workers working in manufacturing conditions which are very unsafe sometimes. So it’s really about protecting the workers from harm, physical harm, mental harm or even financial protection. As an engineer working with thousands of workers, I respect the law. I try to follow it from top to bottom. What I really like about this law is that it has a sequence of steps that you need to follow as an employer to protect your employees. For example, if a worker is working eight hours shift, it’s mandatory for the employer to give him a break, at least an hour break before he begins his next shift. Sometimes it’s not possible to put them on consecutive shifts together, which is illegal in some countries. So I respect the law. I also encourage my other colleagues to respect the law as well.
